I agree, but the society is 'afraid' and wants to be politically correct.

I have to say I think it's wrong to require this girl to use a unisex restroom if she doesn't want to. I feel that it would only be a short time before the other boys and girls would accept her as just another girl, and the school needs to protect her from any violence through firm action with any that would cause her harm.I feel like it would be very important to get her into the main stream of being a girl.I say this from the point of view on an adult that has made the transition.

As a transsexual that was the first in my school, I will tell you the unisex bathroom is mostly in safety for the student, and to relieve safety issues from the girls parents.

Why unisex bathrooms? I don't understand. If this child is considered a girl, then she should use the girl's bathroom like the rest. Also, that Dave M. guy is an ass.

I think this is awesome . That this child can go to school and be who she truely is. I think everyone should be able to be happy and be accepted for who they are as long as there not hurting anyone . As far as Hormones go .I think the child should probally wait until she is a teen to decide on that . Thing should be taken in steps and this is a great first step in that direction for this child. I feel people are becomeing more and more acceptable with transgender people which is a good thing.

I wish I had a mom like you...I'm 23 and have been struggling with this for years and years. I just came out as trans for the second time..the first was when I was 19 and was threatened by my family..so I tried to live as a lesbian..and I just came back out again as trans. It's not going to go away..and I wish I had a mother like you..who would support me..and just try to understand, at least..and love me for who I TRULY am. Kudos to you for supporting him. :)

Kudos to Kim and TYFA for their continued efforts in advocating for our transgendered children. Another wonderful television segment aired during prime time. The word is out. Our children should be safe and happy in their schools.

I am the parent of a transgender child. He transitioned at age 7, and six years later...has never waivered. Kim did a marvelous job! The school is doing what is right for this little girl. The children will be just fine. My son goes to school and uses the boys bathroom...no one has ever had a problem. Just let them be who they were meant to be!! Thanks for educating the public!

that is a good way to look at it and give the others time, they may come around too. |
