The kid doesnt die. hes still alive when she takes him off the monitor. its in reverse. sooo she tears off the monitors and then it flatlines.

the child is in a coma. the mother is waiting and wishing for the day that she could go back to the day when she do all the things she used to do with him.thus the line "thats what im waiting for" the mother must know the child is goin die so she does the things that meant something to her(tucking her child in bed and eating smiley pancakes)
