The Movie Show Online interviewed Sunny ABBERTON about his first feature documentary, BRA BOYS.. Internationally renowned for their surfing prowess and notorious sense of rough justice, the 'Bra Boys' are Maroubra beach's local gang. This is their story. The documentary focuses on the four Abberton brothers, tracing their tragic beginnings to the recent court cases that almost tore the family apart. Often from impoverished backgrounds, members of the gang seek refuge in the brotherhood, all the while sharing a passion for surfing -- one of the few things that provides the escape and nurturing they so desire. Film-maker Sunny ABBERTON intercuts archive footage from Maroubra's early days with recent 'Bra Boy' interviews and surfing adventures, constructing an intimate glimpse into their hardened world.
