yea there is a pretty good amount of ppl that want the job...but dont follow through with training and everything else...and it doesnt take 20 years to get on a dept dont know where you heard that from must of been ppl that have tickets and warrents or just did shitty in the academy cause i got on 3 months after i got out with no help but my own because i wanted it and wanted to be a firefighter and save lives unlike so many other ppl that want it to look cool or impress ppl

"Maybe nobody wants the job."? Get serious. Where I live anyway ,you just as soon hit the lottery than get a job as a fireman. Guys get on lists and wait 20 fucking years for the job. Even then chances are slim. EVERYONE wants that fucking job. The "heroes" that get on usually know someone or have a family tie. My guess is, that's the case most places.
