Not necessarily true. AF-S lenses are supposed to have more accurate focus, but may still need adjustment on the camera due to factory variations.

If you are using AF-S lenses, it is not necessary to do AF Fine Tuning.

Nikon D3 (D3 only) can hold up to 80 different lenses - it has four different banks so each bank can hold 20 lenses.D300 only can do 20 (five per bank).

how many lenses that camera is capable to keep in AFtune memory?my Pentax K20D can keep 20 individual settings for lenses in mem + one general setting for all.. for example. :)
