Wow.If you're honestly comparing mayer to hendrix/clapton then you need help man. They were amazingly creative guitarists and writers. Mayer is more like nesmith from the monkees. He's a guitarist. He's famous. He's pop-y. But in 30 years he'll just be another fogotten smudge in the blur of crap pop of this decade.Hendrix and clapton are sill loved because they stood out of the blur of average 60s acts, and tried to be individual. Mayer'll just fade away when record execs get bored of him :\

Yeah, He's got lotsa money. Therefore he has to be a great musician. very clever :\.I couldnt care less what "industry professionals" think. These are the same people who promote commercial crap like JM in the first place. Theres waaay to many great musicians/groups being ignored so this guy can put out shit like "your body is a wonderland" aimed at 16yo girls and 13yo boys. And what was he up against for that grammy?.Justin timberlake? :(.Say what you want. I'd still prefer robert plant :\

You're SO right. I guess those three Grammy awards for Best Male Pop VOCAL Performance were mistakes. What were those trained musicians and industry professionals thinking when they made that vote??? They clearly should have listened to you. He won 3 out of the 4 times he's been nominated for that award. Not only that, but he could buy you and your entire family. Twice.

You're going to feel stupid when Mayer is unanimously seen as the best artist from his generation. He will become a "classic" when that time comes. People one and two generations from now will look back on Mayer like we look back on Clapton and Hendrix. Guaranteed. When he gets nods from Buddy Guy, BB King, Clapton...I think he has the talent. I'd take the opinion of those three men over yours anyday.

The vocals are very smooth. I'm impressed by the entire DVD and quality. They did a good mixing job on this DVD. Great cover too.

i love how he made it his ownin contrast to petty's-which is just as great, john really stripped it down and made a very relaxing coverthe guitar work and vocals both
lovestheclassics (July 18, 2008 at 4:39 am)
yes, the classics are better than the crap there is today. Some people think that mayer has talent and maybe he does, who knows i dont care and never will, but when i hear someone redo a classic like that and it just sounds like shit, and it doesnt have the heart the Tom Petty had when he wrote it.

I love this version...and the original odviously. I don't know how ppl can't like it. I understand that alot of ppl think no version could beat Tom Petty's....cos everyone likes the originals best, but you can John Mayer loves the original cos he doesn't change it around heaps. I love it and think he is very talented!
