The Spinners "Games People Play" 1975 They Just Can't Stop It (Games People Play)", also known as "Games People Play", is a song recorded by American R&B vocal group The Spinners. Released in 1975 from their Pick of the Litter album, the song was a crossover success, spending a week at number one on the Hot Soul Singles chart and peaking at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was co-written by Joseph B. Jefferson, Bruce Hawes and Charles Simmons and was produced by Thom Bell. Trading vocals with Bobby Smith and Pervis Jackson, whose resonant "12:45" interjection became a hallmark of the song, is backing session singer Barbara Ingram. Because the group was touring at the time, Henry Fambrough was unavailable to put the finishing touches on the recording. Bell was under the gun to complete the production, so he chose Ingram to step in, and in doing so lent a whole new dimension to the lyrical banter

I actually responded to this question in another thread. Phillipe (Soul) Wynne left the group on January 3, 1977 and was replaced by John Edwards, who remained with the group until the early 90s.

Okay, What year did Felipe Wynn leave the Spinners, and who replaced him as lead singer?

Real Strange, my dad did the same thing. Since we live in Detroit; we frequently went to Belle Isle in my younger days and he played the same thing. Only I'm 16 now, but still. Strange coincidence.

Agreed! My family and I would go up to Belle Isle (Detroit, Michigan) in the early/mid 70s and my dad would always have this tune on the radio (most likely...trying to be hip ;) but the song is burned into my psyche and it always takes me back to those times that were much simpler (and better) than today!!!

Simple meaning. The title says a lot "Games People Play". Daily life & love, period. Listen to the lyrics.

Me too. I wanted to dance on Soul train so badly. I made it on a local dance show in Philly, however it was no Soul Train.
