He obviously listened to Rachmaninoff's recording of this concerto. He has a very unique sound: clean & elegant. And yes, his hands are enormous!

Byron Janis is one of the all time greats. I just watched a mster class on this concerto with Jorge Bolet. Neither Bolet or the participants in the class play this concerto with the ferocity and bravura of Janis.
