Actually, Jerry Cantrell's dads nickname may have could've been Rooster.But the term, "snuffing the rooster"Means killing the person in charge of their group. So someone else could become leader. Or they could just run away. Because not many people wanted to be there in Vietnam.

This video really embraces it all- the horror and anguish, the loss, and what little is given in return from war. I absolutely cannot stress enough how timeless this song is, and how amazing it was of Jerry to write this song in honor of his father. It is a representation and voice for thousands if not millions of people and what they've experienced.
