No. As Hammond said, if the lightning's tension is enough to ionize the hundred meters of air between the car and the cloud, finding its way through the tires into the ground is not a concern. Anything which is between the cloud and the Earth will not accumulate any electric charge. Of course, the current's path will get overheated, so I'd check the tires and car electrics too, just to be sure. But, no need to drive into guard rails intentionally :-D

Unless you wore a good pair of rubber shoes, the chance would be very large you would touch the (metal of) the car and the ground at the same time. You're body easily guides the electricity whic would be fatal. So no, I wouldn't get out because than the electricity WOULD unlaod through your body into the ground.

no. actually if you couldn't unload it, the lightning strike would never hit you. Just because the lightning would need to have a full circuit to hit you. So sure after you got hit by a strike get out of the car please, because most certainly you will have a couple of blown off tires.

I've heard that when you are struck in a car, you have to unload the car of the energy first before you step out by driving against a metallic object because the tiers do actually prevent the car from unloading.. Does anybody know if that's true?
