People should be aware that, although Bowie made this song popular, it was actually written by Iggy Pop, during (I believe) Pop's heroin-crazy years. Bowie went to his rescue and they collaborated in such a beautiful way.

I would have to agree. Bowie's hot and has a great voice, but he doesn't feel the song the way Iggy does.
