In normal use the top casing and also the hinges break down. With Mag. Alloy casing the user gets fully protected from such damages and also scratches. Value for money. That is what ELCOT wishes to offer. The home notebooks are meant for one year operation and there is no guarantee for the plastics after one year. Commercial notebooks are designed to last long.

Acer Travelmate comes with Suse Linux Enterprise Edition with one year upgrade support. ELCOT has loaded it with Ubuntu (latest version) with highly advanced features such as online software installation features, 3D desktop etc. For installing any software, the user has to go to the add/remove menu and type the name of the software. Ubuntu searches the net, downloads it and then installs the software. Pretty cooool.

The laptops have arrived even two weeks ago from Taiwan. Installation of two operating systems and then testing the laptop for various parameters has been going on. On 19th Aug night, the laptop was cleared for "ghosting" at Acer's factory in Pondicherry. Despatch would commence from Acer's factory from 21st onwards. Apologies for the mild confusion (The MD was transferred out and the new MD had not joined. A mild confusion has arisen due to this). Umashankar (20th Aug)

I ordered a laptop,but there are issues like no on time delivery and no proper customer support over phone.. just point each other for any answer by giving different extensions of phone number to contact!..But great laptop they sell!!

Acer travelmate's are goddamn awesome. I've had one for 8 years now, not a single hardware problem. My adapter blew once, but that was my fault, the electricity blew out all my adapters.But I was aiming at the gray laptop, the one closest to the camera, isn't that a Dell? Looks like it, but the other is definetly an Acer.
