This is awsome. I like both their new sound, and old sound. Has their album been released yet.

i said they didnt get creative because it wasnt anywhere near what i would percieve as creative. i was expecting something out there with a new vibe and off the beaten track. This may be it but it certainly lacks a vibe and energy which the old stuff certainly had. I think to be fair i used the phrase "stifled creatively" out of context. It might be what they wanted to do i just cannot see how it can relate to their audience and how it meets/merits up to the expectations.

I respect your opinion Jak. You & I can wax for eternity or till the next P release (which ever comes first) about the merits of P3. One thing that cannot be refuted is that P did exactly what they wanted to do. How it can be said that they were "stiffled creatively" I dont understand. London gave P 11 yrs to mull over this CD, each song suffering multiple revisions until all 3 creative members were completely satified. OK, now Meisha can take up the pedestal.

for treading the unexpected path yes that is good but i feel its a path they neednt have crossed. I am admittedly an old sachool freak who doesnt like a lot of the new stuff but this is a genuine reason as to why. The new stuff is more stifled creatively and in this case lacks anything to latch on to or to make it really tick over nicely. It is too random and incohesive in order to work for me. Im not convinced that this is the path they should be going down. Meisha now take up the pedestal

Give it a second listen. In my opinion, this 3rd CD is Portisheads greatest work. Hard to grab onto because it's more minimal and infinetly more complex in every way. They really poured their souls out in this one. Also, give them kudos for treading the unexpected path.
