I used to be able to stand Christine and Raoul, then I hated Raoul because I could sympathize with the Phantom, and now I love all three main characters because I understand their actions equally. I feel bad for Christine for having to make the choice, Erik because he was never loved, Raoul because he couldn't do a lot for Christine. When you think about it, it's quite tragic for everyone. :(

I read that book around the summer after sixth grade (i've been a phan since fourth) and I was bawling all through the chapters of Erik's childhood. It's truly a book worth reading... I love it. My brother had to take it away from me because I was going to throw it against the wall when his mother was cruel to him... Dx It's an amazing book.

Has anyone read Susan Kay's book, The Phantom? If you felt sorry for a and loved Erik before, you will just adore him after reading this book! It's his life story from the date of conception to 20 years after his death. My fave book ever and it explains everything! And it's more true to Gaston Leroux than Lloyd Webber. To think that he could have been saved by just one kiss from his mother but she couldn't bring herself to do it and tortured him instead! And him only 5 years old...

Why does the Phantom receive such overwhelming sympathy? There's thousands if not millions of women who'd willingly accept him amd his deformity. Of course they're not as beautiful or talented as Christine so he's not interested. Anna Kournikova hasn't returned any of my phone calls. Why not cry for me?

Hmmm......If you were in that situation with a guy who was OBSEESED with you or someone you love. So sad. I cried for Erik! (phantom).
