really how much better is 1080i vs 1080p .. is their like a difference that i can see? or is it just what the charts say

Yes, that's right. You can get 720p or 1080i using a new Xbox360 Component cable and I've been told that it can actually output 1080p. It's just that nearly all hdtv sets refuse to accept a 1080p signal via Component because of DRM restrictions.Using a new Xbox360 Component cable you can also run an optical lead (for 5.1 audio) to the input hole on the molex, the part of the component cable which attaches to the Xbox360. Btw, I have yet to see a 1080p Xbox360 game. They're all 720p.

This is now obsolete. The component cables that come with the 1st gen 360's support 480p, 720p and 1080i. The newer gen 360's have an HDMI out and supports up to 1080p which is true HD. This device is useful only if you want to connect your 1st gen 360 to a Display that ONLY has HDMI input to a max res of 1080i.
