I can think of two things:1) They are actually in a studio.2) They freezed it at 2:45 and 5:01 and the shadows is just an effect. He can stand at the same spot and the light can just move around to make it look like hes stepping into / emerging from the wall.Do I need to mention that the heartbeats are fake and that the audience is in on it? Pretty awesome though.

Simple answer. If he had really walked through the great wall he would have had no need for those shadow boxes, he could have simply walked through and let everyone see him emerge. Still one could argue perhaps he DID walk through and he used those boxes so that sceptics out there might have some fodder for doubt... I mean if he is a all powerful-wizard/alien/god the last thing he would want is to be seen by everyone as one HAHAHAHAHA!!!

There's a quick body double in the top of the stair platform that switches place with David. David does not go thru the wall at all, and that's not even his shadow. The 2nd shadow is David and you can see the goof before he shows his shadow coming out from the wall which is simple light manipulation.At 4min 57-58 sec, you can clearly see David's feet as he got out of the staircase....
