The horiffic stories in this report are our future if we don't do something to clean up nursing homes and hold them accountable. We will all be vulnerable at some time of our life. Visit the National Association to STOP Guardian Abuse to learn of another form of abuse of the elderly and vulnerable.

You're right that a daycare would be easier, and that is because the kids don't know any better. But just because many of these elders are sick, does not mean they are crazed. Many of them are competent enough to feel like they have been abandoned by their family, left to be treated like a child. Many of them have seen and experienced more than we can imagine, yet very few of us seek to actually talk with them. Nursing homes must be set to a higher standard because it is their job.

It may be frustrating for those who work in nursing homes, but they have a job. Their job is to protect, respect and care for the loved ones of the families who put them there. If an elderly person is acting up they should be reasoned with. If they cannot be reasoned with then they should be put in a "time out". Following that, however, they should be talked with. These people once lived the lives we lived and they have had that taken away from them, of course they're going to act up.

Well, Now I think that working in a nursing home would be very difficult (I couldn't do it). You can place an elderly person against the wall for timeout, rather than beat them when they misbehave. This would prevent abuse of them. Daycare will be easy for me in the future because children are much more behaved than those elderly people in nursing homes, so therefore, you would never have to worry about punishing if you work in a darcare center because children are much more behaved.

This is absolutely horrible. If I ever heard of this happening to any one of my family, there would be blood.

You are a very cold hearted person to say that somebody should be beat. Your comments should stay, people should know how heartless you are. I'm sorry it took a bad event to make you start feeling what normal humans feel, but consider this your "beating"

Please remove my comments that agree with the abuse of elderly. I am so sorry for those comments, but I just had a bad thing happen in my life. So I now feel sorry for old people when they get abused.

I agree children are worthier than elderly. But, that doesn't mean they should be neglected on their care. Whatever our society created, we should look after them, such as drug addicts and mentally disable or ill patients as well as children and elderly.

I hate old senior citizens. I wish that people would spend more of their time trying to help children who don't have a home because they are much more important to worry about than those study old fugly senior citizens.

I agree. I worked at nursing home last summer. Pay was great for sutdent, I recieved almost 17 cd dollars, but work load just too much to handle.
