read the book, it enlightens u in many ways.
it also gives a pretty good indirect explanation of why x^0=1
according to analogies: 1 dimension = lineland technically x^1 or in length terms cm^1 is 1 line. 2 dimension = plane hence x^2 or cm^2 e.g. square. 3rd dimension = cube etc etc so according to what is stated above, 0 dimensions or x^0 is just 1 point. x^0 = 1

unclefestus, the whole point IS that they are flat 3 dimensional characters but they just don't know it. If they were really two dimensional then they wouldn't be visible at all because something requires width length and height for it to be visible. For example, when u draw a line on a piece of paper it still has height (composed of graphite molecules stacked on each other) or else it'd be invisible.
