Casual, and perhaps not so casual fans, should note: there are many Steely Dan live recordings out there. This whole concert on DVD for one, and other DVD concerts plus many more audio recordings of tours from 1993 forward, and even from 1974. You really can escape to an entire world of their music - including songs they never released !!!

How fucking cool could two old white guys be? Not ANY cooler than this! They'd get hypothermia in their extremeties. Steely Dan is the greatest band ever.

This music is indicative of great thinking and deep feelings about what one is doing. These guys are the best. I think they are under-rated.

oooooh fm is a beautiful song. the dan are amazing. i skip a lot of tracks on my mp3 but whenever a steely dan song starts i just have to listen...they're so cool.

That's why I steer clear of Fm radio and why I LURV Cowhand AM radio, the station that says 'it may be a stillborn calf to you, farmer, but it's helping to support these guys with intimidatingly-vast wingspans and their families.......

Becker and Fagen define cool.Not too proud, not too sarcastic,just enough to let you know how brilliant they are,but not too much to make you feel small.Their greatness is in their ability to produce and perform in a way that makes everyone feel inclusive, with a wink and a nod, we're all in the club and yet the messages they send create for each of us a private little space to tap our feet and snap our fingers.Yes they are cool, and thankfully not lazy, hence their great body of work.
