Here is a video of the startup of the 64DD when no disk is inserted. Mario is playing with the N64 logo for about 2 minutes. At the end of the video, you will shortly see the setup menu of the 64DD.More vids in DivX 6 format and 640x480 here : http://web.mac.com/sebangulo/i...

I believe Ocarina was supposed to be a DD release as well (I suppose as an homage to Zelda's release on the Famicom Disk System). I would love to get my hands on the Development Kits for the N64 and DD systems. I work almost entirely on the Dreamcast so making the transition would be rough but it would be worth giving DD owners something else to play.

I would've really liked to see Unreal on the N64... They were also gonna make Majora's Mask for the 64DD, as an addon to Ocarina of Time, but since it was canceled, they just put it on a cartridge.

Thanks for that. I actually had to look that up. The expansion pack idea was fantastic on Nintendo's part. Wish they had done more with it. A few games for the DD that got cancelled include: Donkey Kong World, Unreal, Metroid Prime, Super Mario 64 2, and even Final Fantasy VII. Too bad it didn't do better.

Don't forget the F-Zero X Addon.

No, it's just a hardware addon that allowed software to be distributed on plastic discs, floppy style. N64 cartridges (and cartridges in general) are expensive to produce. The N64DD was meant to be the remedy to that but it never made it out of Japan. A noteworthy DD-exclusive N64 release would be SimCity 64.

Oh god, hilarious XDEspecially how the N64 logo turned into stone and didn't move, so Mario tried to turn it around manually... then fell over... classic.... XDNo, Mario, don't touch it, it's gonna grow back!! XD |
