interview with Julian on his famous father.~1999If you liked this interview check out Cynthia Lennon's recent book, "John". I have so much respect for her and what happened. Julian wrote the foreward for the book. The book describes in detail what she and Julian went through. ..not very nice."Laurel and Hardy, that's John and Yoko. And we stand a better chance under that guise because all the serious people like Martin Luther King and Kennedy and Gandhi got shot." -- John Lennon"Listen, if anything happens to Yoko and me, it was not an accident." -- John Lennon

It seems to me that Julian is 100 times more of a man and truely great person than his father could have ever hoped to be.

Not to bash the icon, because I admire John's talent, but let's separate John the man from John the icon. Being married to John had to be hard work! The things he did -- his excessive jealousy, violently abusive behavior (slapped Cyn across the face so hard her head hit a wall), anger and aggression, drug use, cheating (Cyn caught John in their home with Yoko the homewrecking opportunist). John could be very mean. After the divorce John was a nitpicky, micromanaging, spiteful prick!

this just goes to show that John wasn't perfect. he did a lot of good, but he was not a saint.for some reason people act as if he was, but really he made mistakes just like the rest of us.

"I got shouted at a lot for enjoying life..." Not a very flattering image for JL.

It was like watching John speak because Julian has the same mannerisms -- which he inherited and will never lose, but with a personality opposite of John's harshness ... warm, kind, compassionate, gentle, loving and caring. Jules turned out this way because of two things: Cynthia raised him and John didn't.

GOOD FOR JULIAN ... look, he was the man's son; he knows what went down and how it made him feel -- and then seeing John with Yoko and new baby Sean, a whole NEW family, yet he barely saw Julian (and Yoko has always been nasty toward Julian). I say KUDOS Jules -- you lived it, you tell it. Fans of your dad are never going to be mad at you for setting the record straight (his own band mates can attest to John's bad parenting). John was a brilliant musician but a lousy father.

I can sympathize with both because John was a young when Julian was born and when your not ready it is definitely hard, but as hard as it is you have to learn to be that kids parent and be there for them. And I think Julian has handled that so well, he doesn't seem bitter, or angry at John. I can't imagine how hard it would be to see your dad with a different family, and a new life.

i really like this interview. julian seems to be so grounded considering his father is one of the most famous men in the world. good for you julian, if only more children of famous people where like this, the world would be a better place! instead, some use their parent or parents fame to get where they are today.
