Actually, I just did a year of general Ballroom/Latin, not just Salsa. But good point nonetheless.

Incidentally, for all you budding dancers, Tessa Cunningham didn't start dancing till she was out of college, and then it was Salsa - not Swing.

A first glance they look similar, most of the moves in Ceroc are taken from Swing - but the timing is completely different.A lot of Ceroc dancers (even very good ones) are completely oblivious to the timing and phrasing of piece of music. What makes WCS much more difficult is that it works to 6 or 8 forwards backwards pulse which must keep in time with the music.Try counting the the beats between the move changes - you'll find they 6 or 8 beats

West Coast Swing and Ceroc share much the same moves - where they are different is in the timing, which in Ceroc is single beat and in WCS is 6 and 8 beat. I do WCS, Lindy and Ceroc, and when I do Ceroc I find myself trying to do it in a 6 or 8 beat frame as you do Swing.Ceroc takes its timing from Salsa and its movements from Swing. Start doing it in a 6 and 8 beat frame and you are doing East Coast Swing.

Czerniakowska. You are talking out of your ass! Obviously you are totally ignorant with little or no knowledge of Westie or Modern Jive and I'd bet you can dance nither of the two!! There is a huge difference between the two and they will never merge. Bloody idiot!
