Thanks for that, I knew that was an options menu of some sort, but it was odd that nothing was there. Now I can unlock... as soon as I can get a new PS2 and mod it, since my only other option is a PSX with an external modchip that doesn't run imports without some ripping/patching/etc.

When you get to the "Select Game Mode" screen where you can pick either Normal or Hard, hit up. If you don't have anything there, enter the code for the one you want:UUDDUUDD - Another LLRRLLRR - Maniac LRLRLRLR - Mirror UUDDLRLR - Doubles You'll only have to put the code for any mod in once, as long as you save after that playthrough. As you introduce the other mods, the appropriate combinations appear. You may not be able to get all 4 codes in the first time.

Arcade and PSX had 1st Mix release. The back of my Konamix manual shows 1st mix being available.

I hae DDr 1st Mix (Japanese version), and I was wondering: How do you unlock edit mode, and play on Maniac difficuly? DDRFREAK, which I usually rely on for this information, doesn't have anything on this version it seems.

The arcade was the only version of the original Dance Dance Revolution released in North America. And you are sorta right, there was no EASY, NORMAL, HARD mode selection but some songs were only available as 2nd, 3rd, and Final Stage. e.g. in order to play Brilliant 2U (Orchestra-Groove) you had to play at least one song first before it was selectable.
