hee. I want to buy the antec 1200 but with motherboard what would be the best motherboared? (of the ones you talked about asus striker 2 extreme and the asus p5e3 premium) If i bought the first i would put 2 GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB in.. (or isn't that possibel?)

I just thought I should vouch for the 8800gt. I have the 512mb version by EVGA and man this baby is smoking!!! Crysis chokes up a bit on max settings and stuff but right now I'm testing Crysis Warhead and man did they prove they could fix up the game engine. I get amazing FPS without hardly a stutter and I'm on 1600 x 1200 resolution with 2x AA and all settings on "Gamer". I'm so blown away by the performance that I may not even try "enthusiast". So yes, bang for buck, the 8800gt 512 is amazing!

high ping is your internet connection. You could play CS:S maxed out with around 60 FPS (that's 6 frames per millisecond, absolutely no flicker or 'slideshow' at those rates) on a $400 computer no trouble, but if you were looking into a $1000 computer you may as well get something nice. A 8800GT card is a cheap and fast GPU card, the 6xx series mobos (650i, 680i) from Nvidia are good, and a cheap dual core processor will definitely play counter strike: source and even a lot of the newer games.

i dont know much about computers at all... but for christmas i was looking to get a new one, i play counter strike source and unfortunatly sometimes "runescape" <-- LOL i know but can anyone tell me what a good computer would be, around 1000 dollars i know cs:s dont take alot to run but my laptop is a pos and i cant really play it cuz i get kicked for high "ping" i dont know what that is really either thanks.

I'm looking to build a new rig. Right now I have an AMD dual core, but I hear some good things about Intel. What processor is actually better for high end gaming? Also, does AMD have plans to release new hardware in the near future - perhaps I should hang out for it?

Well Ummmmmm its mostly what you want for gamers people generally choose intel although AMD are very cheap i would recommend ati for bang for buck parts im going for nvidia cuz im a bit of a fanboy =P

What is the difference between AMD and Intel ? And also, what is the difference between a ATI and NVIDIA configuration? Building my first computer and just want to know what the differences is. |
