This is a promo from the documentary Sharks in Deep Trouble by film maker and shark conservationist Lesley Rochat, which was broadcast on 50/50 in South Africa. It contains footage rarely seen which shocked viewers, bringing many to tears. It is important to note that most of the footage was shot on a legal shark fishing boat and that the problem, as depicted in this film, does not lie with the fishers operating legally, but rather with the illegal fishers and the South African government's inadequate management and compliance of this resource. General inertia of governments worldwide in taking responsibility for their natural resources is driving many fish species, including many shark species to extinction. Sharks in Deep Trouble was produced, directed, filmed, edited, written and narrated by Lesley Rochat. To find out more about Lesley's work go to www.aoca.org.za

Unfortunately there is a huge industry behind all this shark fining take a look at Sharkwater without international laws this will not stop !! And even then someone still has to enforce them in the open sea. Some effort is done by Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

We are so screwed. Try telling the fishermen to just starve to death. They won't agree

What is it with people and chopping up fish that are still alive!? Just because you can't hear it scream like a land animal doesn't mean its not in a ridiculous amount of pain!!A also a tiny bit off topic but...Sharks are just as dangerous as any other animal in the wild! Its the marine equivalent of a lion or tiger, can you imagine how we'd feel towards land based predators if there was a movie about a 400 pound lion hunting humans!? There is obviously an inappropriate fear of sharks

Absolutely senseless killing.. international governments should act now before it's too late! China and other asian markets should have pressure put on them to realise the damage they are causing to the marine eco system
