When a university professor opens a forbidden scroll, he becomes possessed by the twin demons of THUNDER and LIGHTINING who seek to return to our world to wake their brothers, the dragons. HELLBOY, researcher KATE CORRIGAN and RUSSELL THORNE, an albino psychic, travel to Japan to investigate. HELLBOY finds THE SWORD OF STORMS which transports him to a world of Japanese folklore. He learns the sword is the only weapon that can defeat the demons but is also holds the magic that will return them to Earth. The possessed professor sends several creatures of Japanese myth to retrieve the sword. While HELLBOY battles these creations of folklore, pyrokinetic LIZ SHERMAN and the amphibian man, ABE SAPIEN, battle the monsters that have been unleashed around the world.

What I think went on during the first production meeting for this movie:Director: Hey guys, I have a great idea! LEt's give Hellboy a freakin samuri sword!Production Assistant: But doesn't that go against his character, you know, using something other than a gun and his arm.Director: You're fired.Production Assistant 2: Why don't we make him fight demons and stuff, just for the EPOCH-NESS!?Director: I love you, please let us have a baby together.

The plot is very, VERY similar to season 1 episode 9&10 of an anime called Inu Yasha. From the "sword of storms" which is comparable to the sword "tetsuiga", Hiten and Maten the "Thunder Brothers", even to the presence of a "kitsune". Also Hellboy's animated character design is a little laughable. However, Ron Perlman does have a sexy voice...

three things i hate about this:1,animation makes it ALL look so crappy,when it looks better whenits,well,real;so to say...2,i jus don't like it.Not 1 bit.3,they made Hellboy look fat!i meean,who wants to look fat?!
