i personaly prefer the electric guitar but i also play the violin, im hoping to get an electric one soon, this guy has given me a new perspective on the instrument, ive seen him ALOT in york.

I think the electric violin because of its partially higher pitch/tone(?) produces a distinct emotional sound of its own that touches specific emotional places where an electric guitar does not and vice-versa...I think that the violin is more profound and the guitar more raw...i love both but depends what mood i'm in...but thats just my take, i'm probably typing bollocks!
