Air France flight 423 (Airbus 340-300) take off from Bogotá to Paris, 1810LT. Runway 13R, the end of my 2005 vacation in Colombia...

considering the altitude and weight of this A340 at takeoff, it will take this long to takeoff from Eldorado

In aviation terms, Bogota is 8400 feet above sea level. At that altitude there is only about 75% of sea level pressure (density) which means the engines only produce around 75% of sea level thrust. (Slightly more because they were likely down-rated a little). Less thrust, slower acceleration, more runway, lower climb angle.

Ive been reviewing all my aviation books since my early days of private pilot training to the ones I used to get my ATP...and I can not for the glory of God find the term "weak take off" as in reference to the description of a take off by a jet airplane...Still can you shed any light on the subject other than the fact that the airplane in question has an output of 34,000 lbs per engine, perhaps a book reference?
