Actually many Māori words are taken from english language, because in traditional times, they didnt have paper, so didnt need a word for it, nore pens, or rings. Its just like how English take words form the Greek and so on.

i have to learn this song in 2 weeks to sing in a marae and im a pakeha with very little te reo knowledge. ekkkk. beautiful love song though, and this girl is a fantastic singer! would of been nice to hear the whole song...
