You are right. Larry Bird is one of the completest players of all time. I would say with the end of the last century 90% of the real legends were gone. Todays NBA has become boooring. I don't see a difference between watching an NBA game or a rap video on MTV.And the reason for the big difference in physique and athletic is the use of steroids/doping in todays sport. Without a doubt in my mind, there is not a player today better than Larry Bird. Some players might be more athletic, but nobody would match his around game, his skill level, desire to win and incredible basketball iq. As for LBJ, he better learn to hit a jump shot if he wants to be considered in the same sentence as Bird.

Bird, like most elite players during his era, played the game from the SHOULDERS UP. They combined fundamentals with a high i.q. of the game to excel at their positions. They were not great jumpers or flashy ball handlers but were great rebounders and ball handlers.Today elite NBAers primarily dominate through athleticism. Although they posess high basketball iq's and court awareness, they have little fundamental skills to speak of. It becomes most evident in lengthy, tough playoff series.

yup, magic was right a lot of black nba players are SCARED of Bird..jayson wiliams of the nets then of the sixers, recalled, during his rookie year..bird scored 15 points on him in three minutes, williams came out to the bench and never want to play bird again!
