This is the first time I can ever remember actually seeing the faces of all the Muppet actors--I don't immediately recognize them, but if I close my eyes and listen, then the characters' faces pop up. So sad, so beautiful.

Wow! A Clean-shaven Dave Goelz!

I started crying at "You Are My Sunshine" too

even those incredibly skilled and experienced performers couldn't hold their characters all the way through, because of what they felt. You can hear voices breaking and characters dropping, until each person is simply using their most honest raw voice to express their feelings of loss and sorrow, but also joy in remembering.

I dare you not to cry when watching them sing Just One Person. :(

I was 12. It didn't make sense to me then and it still doesn't make sense to me now. There are few celebrities where it actually pains me to feel their absense. But Jim's the biggest. Losing him was like losing part of my childhood. When I see these tapes, I don't just mourn his death, but the good times he brought me and the innocence of childhood. I don't think he ever knew just how much he meant to so many children.

Were you there, lartellumawen?

You never truly get over losing a dear friend. And the day Jim died, we lost more than one. We lost a number. Kermit, Ernie, Rowlf, Guy Smiley....they're still here, but he brought them to life. :(

The Muppet Workshop also made Richard's AIDS quilt for the AIDS quilt that is displayed each year in Washington. You can see it by googling AIDS Richard Hunt Quilt. Use image search. It's a moving quilt. Will choke you up.

I hadn't heard Wimblin' since I was a kid. I was surprised to hear it again. I loved that cassette tape so much growing up. I wore it out. :)
