It is "Let him stay with me, Let him to me"

"Let him here, with me, a little bit more, one day, two days, eight days... the time to make souvenirs..."

"Let him to me" is better I think

Hi, this word "laisser" actually means different things. Here it means "(my God)leave him for me = leave him so that I can get him". Sorry my english is not so good to translate exactly but this is the meaning.

I have heard about this song, and have heard it been mentioned when studying Édith Piaf previously, but have never got the chance to have a listen to it. Once I heard this song, I was stunned, it is so beautiful, the words so simple, yet beautifully crafted in such a poetic manner.Unfortunately, I just have one question to spoil the moment, what is the indirect translation of 'Laissez-le-moi'? 'Let me to him' something around those lines? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Rien ne pourra l'effacermerci à toi de m'avoir permis de l'écouter à nouveau

This is the most heart-rending song I know. And it is such because it is biographical. I have a lump in my throat every time I hear her sing it. Only Piaf can sing it.

May her soul and souls of all the departed rest in eternal peace. What a beautiful lady! I could not agree more with suz208, RIP MADAME!

I do not speak French nor understand the language. However the GREAT PIAF trancends all language barriers with her sublime voice and heartfelt expressions of each song she sang. She left us way too soon. RIP madame. |
