Every linux distro i've tried runs much faster than windows XP on my machine. Particularly gentoo, and I keep windows very cut down.

KDe will be faster than windows :) its already faster, in video there is some lag, because recording software is using lot if CPU :)

it's quite sluggish, isn't it? I was very excited about kde4 but it seems so disappointing so far.I wish i could find some desktop that can run as fast as windows xp on my old computer, with the same level of functionality and conviniency. Even Xubuntu was slower than XP on my machine.Gentoo with E17 on my computer was good, though. But the last time I tried (4-5 months ago), the E17 version on gentoo didn't have icons on desktop, lol.
