This song strikes a chord with this 40-something man. I played this record when I was a college radio DJ and still enjoy hearing it today. It's great you appreciate this classic as much as I liked playing it when it was a hit.

Do you know if any footage of Chicago with Cetera and Champlin performing this song live exists? I cant find any. You would think there would be something as it was such a massive hit..

I defintely prefer Cetera to Scheff, but I'd trade them both for Terry Kath

Absolutely. '17' was massive. One hit after another. Still, I would LOVE to hear Peter do this song again. I understand his reasons, though. No Champlin, no horn section and he didn't write it. Also, when the song transposes to C# on the third chorus, it's murder on an older man's voice. Thank goodness for these older recordings. I think Jason does a great job on this one. You should hear the version on the 1992 VHS 'And the Band Played On". It's REALLY good. Kudos to both of them.

Yeah I am, sorry, my mistake. Its funny because I used to get them mixed up even when they first came out!So many hits on Chicago 17!!!!

I won't argue with you. I'm stating facts. Peter Cetera has not performed this song in concert since May 1985. You may be confusing this with "You're the Inspiration". Which would be an understandable mistake.

Not true, Petera Cetera has this song in his concert listings quite often. But yes he does sing it better than Scheff.Jason needs to sing it in another key!
