yes, as hendrix said, thats where we make our biggest mistakes, that he couldn't compare Muddy Waters with B.B.King that they are both genius in their own aspect or whatever. ha

It's too bad drugs and mental illness were the end of such an amazing talent. Syd was, and still is, one of the most under appreciated artists of our time. He deserves far more recognition. RIP Syd! (And Rick Wright too.)

I agree completely! Both Madcap and Barrett had great songs but Opel had Birdy hop, Opel, Dollyrocker, Milky Way, Silas Lang and of course, the Superior version of Clowns and Jugglers. Its my favourite too!

I think syds music sounds best underproduced. Syd in his purest form, it's a masterpiece.

I think that if Opel would have been a finished product it would definitively be Syd's best album... all of the demo songs are just awesome! They shine even unpolished... or it could even be that being unpolished suited them well... Barrett's eponym album is the more produced one and is the one I like the less...

To thebreakinghands : The fact that you try to compare late PF with early PF / solo barrett work kinda makes me think you are a fool.I love both the early and the late PF.I like what i am in the mood for , some days are just good for psychedelic and some are good for a more dark , sad kind like the wall. And others are great for perfection , that day shine on you crazy diamond beams true my radio at top volume

Genious by any standard, this man was way beyond even himself,"How many times if I try, if you may, when I'm in the Milky Way" No-body else in our time on this planet could touch this man, God Bless you Syd Barrett!
