because it allows for the possibility of forming a mesh network with other devices which could be used for many things. That aside, think about this: With the OpenMoko you can make a free VoIP call when WiFi is avaiable. The reasons for using OpenMoko are really only limited to your imagination...think about how you could modify the hardware...Just give it a chance, ok? :)

Lots of people blow this phone off as underdeveloped and unattractive, but they fail to see and/or know two things:The OpenMoko now runs QTopia. Search for QTopia OpenMoko. YOu'll see it runs much faster.I can't consolse the person below me who won't want a stylus, but the OpenMoko is part of a large picture. The larger picture just has to be developed a little more...Think about the advantages today...Wifi...browse without paying for data transfer...But also this is really interesting

They fail to publish this phone before the deadline they claimed made this phone failure. I can say that my sony palm os can also take video with sound, google map, email, newsgroup, vnc, ssh, playing flash, video playback in mp4, port scanning... at year 2003. And it is most likely that Neo1973 will fall behind google phone when it comes out. Open applications contributed to this phone can also be applied on google phone by efforts of google developers and open source programmer.

I really want to buy one of NEO1937 at 2 years ago. However when I see the size and speed of it, I get really disappointed. Even if the current version "Free runner" boot longer than my Desktop OS. As shown from other videos, most Expert users who want to show off their cool phone also have control difficulties. I hope some can make it faster and make it more practial to use. Anyway I pretty appreciate that they hold the origin idea (most likely) to free a phone and call it neo.

Face it, you look stupid on video. Don't worry though, you won't lose any credibility. You had none to begin with. And Openmoko was dead shortly after it was announced. I sold mine within days of receiving it.
