I find it a bit funny to see the former chair of the Democratic Party saying that the consensus of academic economists "doesn't matter." Most Dems walk around with their noses in the air and are so proud of their claims that they are the party of logic and intellect and Republicans go by emotion and scorn the experts. It looks like when political points can be scored, Dems will ignore reason and facts just as much as they acuse Republicans of doing.

The gas tax holiday proposal is an empty gesture. Terry McAuliffe is a political spinmeister of the worst kind. Hillary Clinton got desperate and turned to populist sloganeering in order to shore up her failing campaign. The voters saw it for what it was. That is why she is no longer in this race.

Obama's suggested a "$1,000 middle-class tax cut". I don't like his idea. I think both their ideas suck. Republicans aren't about to authorize taking a chunk of a company's profits for political use, so it's not bipartisan. In my opinion, both Democratic candidates are proposing "band-aid" solutions.
