He didn't write this song. It was written in 1930 by Stuart Gorrell (lyrics) and Hoagy Carmichael (music). Get your facts straight before you call someone out. It was actually the state song before it became covered by a ton of great singers.

No, he sang it because he was banned from georgia from not performing to an all white concert. He then wrote this song, and georgia unbanned him from going there.

What is not true? This song IS the official song of Georgia. Ray sang it just because he thought it was a pretty song, not because he was born in Georgia or his "second mother" was named Georgia.

Thats not true. The song was writing in 1913 i think it was and its about a girl named Georgia, but it can also relate to the state :D
