I would start with a straight cut and switch to orbital.

tim, when i have to cut a tree branch with a pruning blade, do i use orbital or straight cutting. please respond. thanks
AsktheBuilder (February 18, 2008 at 2:42 am)
yes, it is a more aggressive cut
Skunk980 (February 17, 2008 at 11:59 pm)
tim, is the long stroke for demolition. please respond. thanks

a jig saw is similar to a reciprocating saw. they have smaller blades, and they can cut tighter curves.

I would have to listen again. The short stroke is my choice when I need control, minimal damage to the material being cut and when cutting through metal.

Tim did you mean that the short stroke is straight cutting and the long stroke is orbital cutting. All your videos are great.

Cool video. Tim, I must say I am a huge fan of your videos. You have a very positive outlook on life and construction and the way your videos are put together flow very well into each other. Right now its snowing in Toronto where I live, but coming home at the end of a busy day and watching some building tips of yours really is something to look forward to. Keep up the great work.

Thanks. I am running to the store to pickup a reciprocating saw. I have B&D 18V yard tools so I can buy this one and not have to get more batteries. Plus I like the fact that you showed me they have a pruning blade. I DIDN'T know that! Thanks. |
