Melaya Leff had been put on stage first by Mahmoud Reda. It is NOT a folkloric dance, but rather an invention for stage. There are two types, Alexandrian and Egytpian style. The idea is to conceal and reveal with the special heavy black veil. It is very flirtatious, fun, not sleazy. The woman can even use chewing gum in her mouth. Usually she wears shoes. The little veil infront of the veil is a burka.

Can you tell me more about Meleya Leff? Where does it come from and what kind of dresses do they usually wear? I've just seen some vids where the dancers wear little veils infront of their face. What kind of dancemoves are characteristic???? Thanks in advance for any answer :)
