I think people commited suicide to this song because at the time this was written people were going through a horrific economic depression.I've listened to this whilst sucidal and depressed and it made little to no difference to the condition. Its mostly myth.

Their depression is WAYYYYY up there to me.I like this music.(Suicide might be bollocks-a "Heather's"/Darwin way of society mind-controlling people to quit the struggle.)

yes,and the music is also depressive. just listen to the left hand in the original version, or you can hear it in this one too.chromatic downscale...that leads to nothing,to absolute brakedown and gloom.

he reason why some people suicided from this song is because the phrases of the music lead into absolute despair. the begging shows the question of why they are so depressed. then middle gives more depression. at the end shows that the answer is the reason why they are depressed in the first place. thus the amplification of their depression leading to suicide.

I don´t like this version at all, doesn´t have an impact... I prefer the Diamanda Galas version

This was originally a Hungarian song composed by Rezső Seress. Many people have done covers of it, including Billie Holiday. There is a lot of speculation that it is linked to hundreds of suicides, but don't believe everything you hear in the media.
