Our dear UK government has left us open to fascist, illegal intimidation by private companies, and have done it by the backdoor.I cannot believe that the UK public are not up in arms about this - the government have just literally sold all our freedoms down the river.For those unfamiliar, Berly Brazier was a 61 year old woman who committed suicide after receiving persistent debt collection agency letters.If the government's idea comes in to employ Intrum Justitia and private collection firms like it, then you can expect to see a lot more Beryl Braziers for years to come.Listening to this, do you still think that this government should be trusted with bringing in the much-reviled idea of national identity cards?Even taking into account what this government have done in the past, nobody can let this shocking proposal go through. Take a stand -- write to your local MP, your local paper, do whatever it takes to stop this.

If it's been paid, then nothing to worry about. They're pissing in the wind for £8 - it'd cost them far more to even chase it up.Report them for telephone harassment - OFCOM and Trading Standards (your local one and theirs). Financial Ombudsman service might look into it as well, and if they uphold a complaint, they'll charge the company £400+, regardless of whether they come down on your side or theirs.But don't speak to IJ on the phone and keep a log of times/dates they call.

Yes, they do operate in European countries as well, being centrally based in Norway. I understand that they had some 'legal problems' there that almost got them shut down. Bearing in mind that this is the same company that in 2003, had a financial black hole consisting of several million pounds. 'If they're acting on behalf of their client, that's not where the money's going'

They are aggressive and none too bright either - standard call centre jockeys. I'd asked for a copy of original credit agreement and deed of assignment - none of the three I spoke to knew what I was talking about. They did understand about my request for their complaints procedure. But then again, they didn't because it's not been received, so I think a complaint to the FOS is in order.In response to a comment below, nope, no disfigurement - I'm just not very photogenic.

They are aggressive rude people from intrum justicia, I got tortured by them for money i didnt owe but i started blowing a whistle down the phone and they stopped ringing

starfiremale - Sorry to hear about your story (went through similar situation myself) and for not replying sooner. Unfortunately, I don't have a website, but do recommend moneysavingexpert and consumeractiongroup. Lots of information offering good, sound advice and lets you know the tricks that these parasitic twat companies will pull. FOS complaints are a good way of causing them disruption - even if the FOS rules in their favour, the DCA still gets charged £400+ a time.

They reckoned I owed 11,000. All of it was illegal charges incured as I sat and watched my partner slowly die of cancer. I wasn't as savvy back then. I do realise people will pay something to get them off their backs. But the bunch of cunts have accepted £1 a week in payments. I'm sure this will be helpful to a lot of worried sick people.

Brilliant stuff. Do you have a website?? I have been fighting two agencies for over 7 years. Fortunately I don't scare. I would urge everyone to contact a C.A.B solicitor. One cheeky fucker has been back in touch over a year later when they thought my solicitor had "gone away" Keep saying no!! Also when one bunch of cunts got fed up of me blocking them, they sold the debt on!! They'll get as far as the last one did. My story is tragic as to how I came to debt, partner dying, me on chemo
