some drivers drive closer to the middle and some drivers drive closer to the edge. there i just solved it. because those who drive closer to the middle is more likely to travel faster but not going faster if you know what i mean. they have the same speed but different angels.

that would make it worsepeople see the gap, they go to fill it. then they slam on the brakes and have to stop again. that's what causes traffic jams.
