How right you are Tomj2110-I agree with every word that you say!Radio 1 was alright in the 1980s, but today I too prefer Radio 2-it has a much broader range of music and presenters anyway. Many thanks for the posting jocksspeedos!

Hi the Jingles were from a Jam package that was customised to each station ID. Z100 in New York also used the same jingles

Yeah and time has proved us right. There's a big difference with Radio 1 in 1991 and Radio 1 now.Back then they had decent DJ's and decent music.Nowadays I prefer Radio 2 because half if not all of radio 1's ex-hosts like Mark Radcliffe,Steve Wright and Simon Mayo have now got shows on that station.Radio 1 today is so awful and also it's not very good because there's no-one there left that I like either so I will not be listening to it again in future.

lewis, yes Radio 2 is now most listened to station, but only since the 1990s. Before that, Radio 2 was an "old person's" station that no young person would even consider listening to. Radio 1 was top station in '90.

DLT etc really had had their day - what an absolute cheeseboard o'cack.. no better today with the fat boy on at breakfast.Mark and Lard (and I spose Evans) were the absolute pinnacle of R1 in the last couple of decades imho
