Traditional Latin Mass filmed on Easter Sunday in 1941 at Our Lady of Sorrows church in Chicago. The film presents the ceremonies of the Missa Solemnis or Solemn High Mass in full detail with narration by then-Mgr. Fulton J. Sheen. Celebrated by Rev. J. R. Keane of the Order of Servites (hence the white habits and cowls), the ceremonies are accompanied by a full polyphonic choir, orchestra, and fifty Gregorian Chanters. The attention to detail in the ceremonies is impressive. Notice, for example, how the servers and ministers always take great care to move in order. Notice too that the servers are all almost identical in height. The Ordinary of the Mass, composed by Rev. Edwin V. Hoover, while pleasant in places, is very much a reflection of its time. The Proper on the other hand is timeless and sung admirably by a healthy throng of Seminarians from Mundelein, Illinois.Unfortunately due to size restrictions at Youtube around 20 mins have been cut from the original, however, I hope to upload a full version somewhere soon. In addition to the cuts I have added new captions and edited the opening credits which had deteriorated in the original. Other than this the film remains largely unchanged. Apologies for the error in the captions for the two parts of the Mass (software). The first part is of couse the Mass of the Catechumens, the second is the Mass of the Faithful.

The Catholic Church is awesome!

Johny, you are going to have to explain what you mean, because you are using alot of allusions but I have no clue what you mean.

Not sure what you mean. I wasn't raised Catholic, so maybe I'm missing something. I was raised Protestant, became a minister, then resigned my Church one day to become Catholic. Guilt is an important human feeling that indicates you still have a conscience; shame is something naturally felt and indicates a healthy soul. Both when overdone are unhealthy, especially when inculcated unnecessarily. So in what way is the Church arbitrarily and illegitimately inducing guilt and shame?

ciin58: As a Catholic, you revel and rejoice in shame, i know.

sammy: The vampire of your church is it's twin fangs of guilt and sin, with blood to drench them in.

The most ghastly abomination of all was the system of torture. The accounts of its cold-blooded operations make one shutter at the capacity of human beings for cruelty. And it was decreed and regulated by the popes who 'claim' to represent Christ on earth..." -- William Shaw Kerr (Church historian)

Use common sense. Condoms are useless. They will only lead you to hell. Repent johnny, repent. This life is only a second, but after death is an eternity. Don't risk your soulon a piece of rubber, or five minutes of pleasure. Repent of your sins, because God will judge EVERY thought, word and deed, past present and future. Your thoughts are known to Him. You can not hide from His justice. Repent before its too late.

You quote our bible, but do you actually comprehend what it says? Maybe you need to go back and study what it says harder before you start critizing what it says. Same with Church doctrine. Read it, research the figures behind what you critize us for anathematizing. Condoms can break, and are meant only for babying adults. They want to have all the sex in the world, but don't want the child. That is like pointing a loaded gun at your head and pulling the trigger, hoping it won't fire. Next post.

johnnyk2112 you are certainly welcome to try to shame me all you like. I'm up for it.

Are you Atheist sir, johnnyk2112? What exactly do you find vampiric? Is it the fact that we preach don't have sex unless you are married? Is it because we say don't use a condom? Instead if you don't want a std or an unwanted pregnancy, don't have sex? Human moral eveloution does have a setback, by idiots who feel they can freak any woman they want, and there not be consequences. Condoms donot prevent pregnacy, or stds, only abstaining.
