At this time in Clapton's career he is only doing a Delaney Bramlett imitation. Heck he stole all their musicians. It took him quite a few years to develop his own style. And he does have his own style that is for sure. When you hear Clapton you know it is Clapton.

they probably did a lot of drugs. just like everyone else back then. but they could put on a better show than about 90% of musicians today.drugs or no drugs, the musicians in the 60's and 70's had real talent.

Whitlock answered, maybe still answers, a lot of fans question in some discussion forum on the web.. I forgot what it' called, but I wouldn't be able to post it here anyways cos youtube blocks links. he said it there, but i'm almost sure it's also on Jan Reid's book an the Band and the Layla album..

oh my god that's so funny, how the hell did they play so well, btw where did you get that info?

In this case it's cocaine.Bobby Whitlock said when they arrived at the studio some guy gave them a BUNCH of coke and they all indulged. Whitlock was scared as hell when he got on stage though, as his family was there for this taping. Funnily enough, the first thing Cash said when he arrived was:"WHO'S ON SPEED?"He was wired up too... I guess that made things better....Great performance. Bad choice of song IMO..shoulda been Why does Love Got to Be So Sad or something...

Dude that is so shallow. Perkins was at this time a far better guitarists than young Clap. Clapton style became more refined later but that is true appreciation from Clap to Perkins. Know your rock history. None of them at that time were even playing 4 finger leads, which came later.
