It won't make any difference. Even if by some chance you find a huge oil field of several billion barrels it will make minimal differnce and will take at least 10-15 years to produce.What you need to do is invest in renewables - you got plenty in the States - it's clean and would boost the economy in a new way.

To maranatha2000: The last time I checked, the opinion of the people of New Zeland do not matter to Americans. If you do not like it, then too bad. It will continue, Iran being next on the list.Let's get the facts straight. Iraq in fact did develop WMD under the Saddam Hussein era. there was no way at all to verify if he dismantled the program, fid them, or sold them off to a country like Syria, Russia, or Iran. We will never know. But we do know that Iraq is a better place without Hussein.

And that's why the rest of us (the world) hate united snakes of ass. U fink ur doing the world a favor but really it's all in self interest. Iraq is an xample. It wasn't to rid the world of sadam. How has the world benfitted from his death? There's more innocent deaths and the worlds become even more volatile. Where's the WMDs? Now G.W.BUSHit says capability to make WMDs sine none have been found to date.
