I like the footage but the image stabilization is really distracting/funny. I can imagine how shaky the footage is without it :s

Nope, Chungking Express was set in Chungking Mansion (hence the film title) over in Tsim Tsa Tsui and Central on Hong Kong Island, nowhere near Kowloon Walled City. I'm pretty sure the Walled City had been demolished by the time the movie was filmed (mid-nineties).
