Larry King: Bill Nye vs. Richard Lindzen

Richard Lindzen was on Larry King Live a few nights ago discussing Global Warming with a panel of experts that included Bill Nye the Science Guy. A TV personality and former sketch comedy member against an atmospheric physicist and a professor of meteorology at MIT. Julian Morris and Lindzen make excellent points for which the alarmists have no answer. It's the same old song and dance, they always mention the "consensus" and the IPCC report.

That guys speaks so monotone, fucking fossil

The physics of global warming is undisputed; the modern science is solid; and global warming skeptics are heading for "flat earth" status. Get over it! Presently each American spends about $1,400 per year as a "scarcity-premium" for oil (as well as $500 for the Iraq war). Oil production is declining in most exporting countries and demand is rapidly increasing. Early evidence is that solar generated electricity (thermal) will be cheaper than oil - Let's stop squabbling and Get Working.

Your argument is that Big Oil has paid off everyone who disagrees with global warming. Right. Because there's *no* money to be made with eco-friendly products, right? In fact, eco-friendly products usually cost *less* than other products, right? After all, "Green" products make up a piddilly little multi-million dollar a year industry... anyone who sells them certainly doesn't have "ka-CHING!" on the brain. Gee, I wonder why they *would* want climate change to be true...

I don't know you well enough to call you a liar... so I'm going to assume you're posting comments from a magical gumdrop land full of talking cartoon animals. And while I'm sure that the toxins the Lollipop King is pumping into the atmosphere there are pretty scary... but back where *I* live, the science *is* inconclusive.
CrowsTurnOff (September 23, 2008 at 5:16 pm)
"Many scientists who once supported man-made global warming now after research and study no longer believe it" is a lie. Back up your claim with sources please. And, right-wing blogs are not sources.
CrowsTurnOff (September 23, 2008 at 5:15 pm)
The science is not inconclusive. By saying so, you're either lying or you're ignorant. Lindzen is in the pocket of Big Oil - he ignores evidence, and makes up his own. In fact, 95% of all climate change deniers can be traced straight to the oil companies. Gee, I wonder why THEY wouldn't want climate change to be true....As for the evidence, it is crystal clear: climate change is real and humans are a major factor. All pseudo-evidence you have to contrary is easily refuted by actual science.

Dear YouTube: Fear of global warming is alarmism. The science is *inconclusive*, and throwing money at the problem will only line the pockets of "environmental" corporations (going green these days equals big bucks, which is why many corporations are jumping on the bandwagon). Nobody's saying we should go out and pollute the shit out of the place, but let's wait until the data is a little more concrete before we start sending truckloads of money to people who pinky-swear that they can save us.
poobah103 (September 23, 2008 at 4:44 pm)
If you can find a way for us to be prepared *without* raising taxes or costing taxpayers a couple hundred million, then I'm sure nobody would have a problem with it. But I'm dubious about shelling out to prevent things that *might* happen (especially when the science is *way* inconclusive, like on global warming). That'd be like asking for billions in taxpayer money to build laser shields around the planet because we *might* be invaded by Ming the Merciless.
