A recent release of classified documents from British Foreign office regarding the assasination of Aung San has prompted an investigation by BBC. BBC reported that the assasination plot was far more complicated then previously thought. It was suggested that the involvement of high ranking British government officials were hidden by British Foreign office until 1997. BBC traced back some links between Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith (an ex governer of Burma) and U Saw - the convicted assassin.

I think BBC failed to tell us some important pieces of history during Aung San's trip to London. First Aung San made clear that Burma wouldn't be part of British Commonwealth, severing all ties with Britain and U Saw and Ba Sein, who rebeled against Aung San Attlee agreement, stayed behind. No one is sure who they met what they discuss etc.

it doesn't matter how Gen. Aung San planned to run the country. the withdrawal from commonwealth, anti-colonial, nationalism ( maybe sometimes extreme ) - all these might have been wrong moves now. but He did it all with goodwill and what he thought was the best for the country.
